1. Where should I place my trash?

Residents should place the trash in front of the residence between the property line and the curb. The trash should be neatly stacked away from any meters or fences. Any loose or small items should be bagged, boxed or bundled. Trash that is placed on a neighboring vacant property will not be picked up. Please note: It is illegal to dump trash on a vacant lot.

2. What kinds of trash can I put out for pickup?

Acceptable items include: Landscape / yard waste, including tree limbs and branches (less than four feet in length and 12 inches in diameter, bundled); leaves, weeds, grass and small clippings (must be bagged or boxed); hedge clippings, palm fronds (must be bundled); Cacti, century plants and other hazardous items should be boxed to avoid injury to collection staff. Also allowed are metal materials (20 pounds or less), pipe (less than one inch in diameter and less than four feet in length), twenty-five pounds or less of construction or demolition solid waste (generated by a resident), cardboard and / or wooden boxes, and furniture and manufactured items, such as washers, dryers, water heaters, and other appliances or equipment (NOT containing refrigerants).

3. Are there any kinds of trash the city will not pick up?

Per Eloy City Ordinance, large tree trimmings, large branches, vehicle sections over 20 pounds, building materials produced by contractors, paint, tires, batteries, motor oil and industrial waste will not be picked up and must be disposed of by the owner or occupant of the property. Any items that cannot easily be lifted by two people will not be picked up, as well as any items illegally placed on vacant lots.

4. What happens if I don't comply?

All residents must comply with these regulations. Failure to comply will result in the notification of the violation to the Code Enforcement Office and possible legal action.
